CRESTOR SIDE EFFECTS

The drug Crestor has been linked to kidney damage and kidney failure.

The manufacturer of the drug is AstraZeneca.

Crestor is in the family of cholesterol-lowering drugs called statins.

Several years ago, Baycol, another popular statin drug, was banned as a result of its link to a potentially fatal disease, Rhabdomyolysis.

Crestor was approved for sale in the United States by the FDA in August, 2003, after a delay because of safety concerns.

The FDA approved Crestor but at lower dosages then originally requested.

Records from the FDA and health agencies in Canada and Britain show life-threatening side effects occur even at the lower doses.

AstraZeneca has recently begun a public education campaign recommending that patients arm themselves with the most current information and speak to their physicians before making decisions about Crestor.

We are investigating the possibility of a class action claim against AstraZeneca in connection with Crestor.

DEPO-PROVERA CAUSES BONE LOSS

Depo-Provera is an injectable contraceptive.

The drug is manufactured and distributed by Pfizer Canada Inc. who recently said that women using the injectable contraceptive can lose significant bone mineral density, damage that may be irreversible and puts them at increased risk of developing Osteoporosis.

This announcement has angered a Canadian Coalision of Women's health groups that started lobbying against the drug long before its approval in April, 1997. These groups argued that safety testing was inadequate.

Depo-Provera has been particularly popular with young women because it is not a daily pill. The drug is injected once every three months.

In Canada, almost 625,000 prescriptions were written for Depo-Provera last year.

That suggests that more than 150,000 Canadian women use injectable contraception.

Women who took Depo-Provera and who have experienced or may experience loss of bone mineral density may be entitled to compensation. We are investigating this matter.

If you have taken or are taking Depo-Provera, please contact us to provide us with information in respect of your situation.
